Sweetheart Gate
A wrought-iron gate in downtown Charleston, photographed close.
Both leaves carry the same figure: a large heart built from concentric bands of iron spiralling inward, with a small cross set directly above it. The scrollwork carries on along the top rail and the bottom, so the hearts sit inside a much busier field and take a moment to resolve. The garden behind is thrown well out of focus, which keeps the ironwork flat and graphic.
Black iron against soft green, and not much else. A detail shot — it suits a smaller wall, or a group of frames.
