Pirate's Path
The Pirates Courtyard gate in the French Quarter, shot from beside it.
Coming in this close turns the gate into the subject rather than the frame. The scrollwork fills two thirds of the picture — circles, spirals, one small fleur worked in near the middle — with the enamel sign reading PIRATES COURTYARD mounted across it. Past the gate a narrow flagstone path runs between a white house with red shutters and an old brick wall, ferns growing out of both edges of the stone.
Black iron, green, one red note. Vertical, and it rewards a close look.
