Standing off gives you the whole thing — two heavy stucco piers, the wall curving away from both of them, and the iron gate standing open in the middle with the red arched door framed dead center behind it. The red is repeated in the decorative arch set over the door. The stucco has been left to weather and it has: green staining, dark patches, the render broken away in places. That is exactly what makes the door read as new.

Grey, green, and one deep red. Symmetrical, and formal without being tidy.
