Broad Street I
Broad Street at dusk, with the lights on and the road empty.
The best few minutes on this street come after the sun has gone but before the sky goes black, when the warm light inside the buildings balances what is left outside. That is this frame. St. Michael's stands on the left with its steeple lit. The row opposite runs red, then cream, then on into the distance, palmettos in front of it and gas lanterns burning beside the doorways. There is nothing on the road at all.
Warm windows against a grey-blue sky. A Charleston print that does not lean on a sunset.
