Star Fish Sunrise I
A starfish left on the sand as the sun comes up.
The frame is mostly cold — grey-blue water, a heavy dark cloud deck, one dark barnacled rock over on the right — and the only warm thing in it is a narrow orange band at the horizon with the sun sitting down in it. The starfish is pink-red on pale smooth sand at the bottom of the picture, and the wash coming in from the left has been softened into a white sheet that stops just short of it.
Cool everywhere except one strip. Restrained, and easier to live with than a full sunrise.
