The Single Bolt
A storm offshore at dusk, with one strike coming down to the water.
The cloud is a single cell, white at the top and flat along the base, and underneath it a curtain of rain has gone pink where the last light is getting through. The bolt drops out of that curtain, forking twice on the way down, and the sea underneath returns it as a pale column. Everything else is quiet — deep blue overhead, dark sand across the bottom, the water pulled smooth by the exposure.
One event in an otherwise still frame. It suits a room that can take something cold.
