Flowers of Spring
Azaleas at full bloom under a live oak, in the Lowcountry.
The oak limb arches right across the top of the frame and it is loaded — Spanish moss hanging off the underside, resurrection fern green along the top. Beneath it the azaleas stack in three depths: magenta close in on both sides, hard red through the middle, more pink further back where the light is coming through. A leaf-litter path runs between them. The light comes from behind, low and gold.
About as saturated as my work gets. It carries a room on color alone.
