The Plantation in B&W
An avenue of oaks in black and white, straight down the road.
Taking the color out puts all the weight on the moss, and there is a great deal of it — hanging in thick curtains from every limb, layered back on both sides until the canopy reads as tone rather than as leaves. The trunks go near-black. The road runs bright down the middle to a small pale opening at the far end, and it is the brightest thing in the frame by some distance.
Black, white, and one strong line down the center. More dramatic than the color versions.
