3-Point Driftwood
Driftwood standing in the shallows off Folly Beach with Morris Island Light behind, in black and white.
Three bare trunks hold the frame — one arching in from the left, one standing straight up, one leaning off to the right — and the exposure ran long enough to remove everything that might compete with them. The water lost its surface completely and went to milk. The cloud drew out into long horizontal streaks. The lighthouse is a small dark mark on the horizon between the trunks.
Almost nothing left in it but shape and tone. Minimal, and strong at any size.
