The dune has a crest to it — a clean edge where the wind piled the sand and then cut it — and the fence follows that line, standing tall and leaning on the right, dropping away smaller to the left. Side light strikes the ridge, so one face is bright and the other falls into shadow, and the slats throw a row of thin stripes down across the sand. High cloud streaks overhead.
