Boats at Rest
A working harbor in Maine at rest, in black and white.
The boats are moored in a row along the dock and every one of them is doubled in the water, which was flat enough to hold the reflections almost intact. Behind them the waterfront buildings are the interesting part — old clapboard and shingle warehouses standing out over the water on pilings, worn down, windows in every state of repair, gear stacked along the walkways. Nothing in the frame is moving.
Grey, still, and full of working detail. It suits a study or an office.
