Broad Street in B&W
Broad Street at night, empty, in black and white.
Shooting it with nobody on it lets you read the street as architecture — the row of storefronts stepping away on the left with their windows lit, palmettos and bare trees breaking the line, the lamps burning as starbursts, and St. Michael's steeple standing white at the far end of it. There is a bicycle leaning at the curb and a gallery sign hanging out over the sidewalk. No cars moving, no people.
Black, white and very still. A downtown print for someone who does not want a postcard.
