Taking the color out of this tree is the most useful thing you can do to it. In color your eye goes straight to the green. In monochrome you can finally follow the limbs, and they are extraordinary — running out level for great distances, dropping to the ground and rising again, crossing over one another, twisting along their own length. The bark texture comes up hard. The ground underneath is bare leaf litter.

Black and white, and mostly structure. The version for someone who wants the tree rather than the setting.
