The Folly Beach Pier at last light, from the low-tide flats.

The name comes from the water. A long exposure smeared the incoming tide flat across the sand, so the reflected orange and violet lie in wide horizontal strokes instead of ripples. The foreground is scattered with dark stones the tide has uncovered, each one carrying a wet highlight. The pier itself is a thin silhouette with its lights already burning.

Warm at the horizon and cool everywhere else. It hangs well in a room that gets evening light.
