Yellow Driftwood
A driftwood stump on the north end of Folly Beach, with the Morris Island Lighthouse standing out in the water behind it.
The trunk arches off the root mass like a bridge and reaches toward the lighthouse. Underneath, the roots are still holding the shape the sand gave them before the sand let go. The wood has weathered to silver, with one black knot near the middle. Warm light sits low along the horizon to the left, and the wet sand under the arch is holding the reflection of it.
Large pale wood, a lot of open sky, one small vertical mark on the horizon. It settles a wall instead of competing for it.
