Cow Head Driftwood
A driftwood root mass on the beach with the Morris Island Lighthouse behind it.
The name comes from the wood, and once you have seen it you cannot stop seeing it. The root has weathered into a shape with a horn curving off one side and a hole worn straight through where an eye would sit, so the whole mass reads as a skull turned toward the water. It is bleached gold and split along every grain line. Behind it the lighthouse stands small on the horizon under high streaked cirrus.
Heavy in one corner, open everywhere else. A strange object, photographed plainly.
